Terms of Service

A note before we start

These are the terms for using Hauva.club. We have tried to write them clearly, not in legal jargon. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If anything is unclear, write to us at moi@hauva.club.

Hauva.club is currently in private beta. These terms may evolve as the service grows; we will note significant changes here.

In these terms, "we" or "us" refers to Atelier Lighthouse Tmi. "You" refers to the person using Hauva.club.

What Hauva.club is

Hauva.club is a community service for dog owners in the Helsinki metropolitan area. It helps people find dog-friendly spots, share their experiences, and connect with other dog owners.

The service is provided free of charge for individual users. Some optional paid features may be introduced in the future; if so, separate terms will apply to them and you will see them clearly.

Your account

3.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Hauva.club. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older.

3.2 Signing in

Hauva.club uses Google to sign you in. We do not store passwords. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure.

3.3 One person, one account

You may have only one personal account. Business accounts (representing a venue) are separate; see section 4.

3.4 Closing your account

You may delete your account at any time from the app. When you do, your personal data is removed from Hauva.club. See our Privacy Policy for details on data retention and exceptions (such as photos already shared on Hauva.club's official social media).

Business accounts

If you represent a venue (café, restaurant, dog park, hotel, salon, dog shop, or bar) you may create a business account linked to that venue.

One business account corresponds to one venue.
You must be authorized to represent the venue.
We verify business accounts by contacting the venue's Instagram account. Until verified, business features are limited.
Business accounts are free to create. We may introduce a paid partnership tier in the future, with separate terms.
You may run a personal account and a business account in parallel (for example, if you both own a café and walk your own dog).

Acceptable use

By using Hauva.club, you agree NOT to:

Post content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, threatening, or discriminatory
Post content about people, dogs, or venues you do not have permission to share
Impersonate someone else
Submit fake or misleading information about a venue or business
Use the service to harm dogs or their owners in any way
Attempt to bypass the check-in distance rules or other technical safeguards
Scrape, copy, or reuse Hauva.club's content or data for commercial purposes without permission
Disrupt or attempt to break the service
Use the service to send spam or promote products and services not related to the community

We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these rules. In serious cases (such as illegal content) we may also report to authorities.

Your content

6.1 You own what you post

You retain ownership of the content you upload to Hauva.club, including photos, reviews, dog information, and any other material.

6.2 License you grant to Hauva.club

By uploading content, you grant Atelier Lighthouse Tmi a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

Display your content on the Hauva.club website and app
Adjust the content as needed for display (cropping, resizing, light filtering)
Use your content for Hauva.club's own community-building and content marketing

If your profile is set to Public at the time of upload, the license also includes displaying your content on Hauva.club's official social media (such as Instagram @hauvaclub), with credit to your account.

If your profile is set to Private at the time of upload, the license does NOT include social media use.

The license is "frozen" at the moment of upload. Changing your profile setting later does not change the license already granted for past uploads. However, the new setting will apply to all future uploads.

6.3 Profile-level consent

In your profile settings, you can enable a toggle to allow Hauva.club to use your photos on social media without per-photo confirmation. This toggle is off by default and is your choice to enable.

6.4 What the license does NOT include

The license does not give us the right to:

Sell your content to third parties
Transfer the license to third parties
Use your content outside Hauva.club's own channels
Modify your content in ways that misrepresent you or your dog

6.5 Removing your content

You may delete individual photos or reviews at any time from the app. Photos already shared on Hauva.club's official social media at the time of deletion are not automatically removed from those platforms; however, you may contact us at privacy@hauva.club to request case-by-case removal.

6.6 Your responsibilities for uploaded content

You confirm that:

You own the content you upload, or you have the right to upload it
The content does not infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights
People visible in your photos are not depicted in a way that violates their rights
The dogs in your photos are yours, or you have permission from the dog's owner

If a third party contacts us with a valid complaint about content you uploaded, we may remove the content while we look into it.

Check-ins and reviews

7.1 GPS-based check-ins

Check-ins use your device's GPS to verify you are near the spot. You agree not to attempt to circumvent this (for example, by spoofing your location).

7.2 Honest reviews

When you write a review, you should be describing a real visit and an honest impression. Fake reviews, paid reviews not disclosed, and reviews motivated by personal disputes outside the venue experience are not permitted.

7.3 Same-spot, same-day limit

You can check in at the same spot only once per day (Helsinki time).

7.4 Cancellation window

You can cancel a check-in within 1 hour of creating it. After 1 hour, the check-in is permanent.

Hauva.club's role and limitations

8.1 We are a platform, not a guide

Hauva.club lists spots and displays user reviews. We do not independently verify every detail about every venue. Opening hours, dog policies, and other practical information may be inaccurate or out of date. Please verify directly with the venue when it matters.

8.2 We do not endorse venues

Listing a venue does not mean we recommend it. Reviews represent the views of individual users, not Atelier Lighthouse Tmi.

8.3 Dog safety is your responsibility

Hauva.club does not assess whether a venue or location is safe for any particular dog. Different dogs have different temperaments, allergies, and needs. You are solely responsible for your dog's well-being in any location you visit.

8.4 Service availability

We aim to keep Hauva.club running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee 100% uptime. The service is currently in private beta and may have bugs, downtime, or unexpected behavior.

8.5 Data loss

The service currently runs on Supabase's free tier, which does not include automatic backups. While we take reasonable steps to prevent data loss, we cannot guarantee the preservation of your data in all circumstances. We recommend you do not store anything in Hauva.club that you could not afford to lose.

Disclaimers and liability

9.1 As-is service

Hauva.club is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by Finnish law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

9.2 Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Finnish law, Atelier Lighthouse Tmi is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of Hauva.club. This includes (but is not limited to) loss of data, loss of business, or loss of enjoyment.

For direct damages, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us in the past 12 months. Since Hauva.club is currently free of charge, this amount is typically zero.

Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited by Finnish law (such as liability for gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or personal injury caused by our negligence).

Intellectual property

The Hauva.club name, logo, "Hyvä Hauva!" tagline, written content (other than user content), code, designs, and overall look and feel are owned by Atelier Lighthouse Tmi or licensed to us.

You may not copy, reuse, or redistribute these elements without our permission.

Changes to the service

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We may also suspend or end the service. If we end the service, we will give you reasonable notice and allow you to export your data where feasible.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Hauva.club evolves. When we make a significant change, we will note it here and update the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is material, we will also notify you in the app.

By continuing to use the service after changes take effect, you agree to the updated terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland.

Any dispute arising from or related to these terms or your use of Hauva.club will be resolved by the Helsinki District Court (Helsingin käräjäoikeus), unless mandatory consumer protection rules give you the right to bring the case in your local court.

If you have a complaint that cannot be resolved through direct contact with us, you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr) or contact the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi).
